Bride's Frequently Asked Questions
When do I book a band for my reception?
Hiring your band one year in advance is recommended as groups are booked on a first come, first serve basis. What information will the band need before my reception? The band will need your songs selected for special dances - refer to our suggested listing. If the song you would like is not listed on our song list, you can provide a playlist on your iPhone with your songs before the reception. You should provide a written list of any names that will be announced and how you would like them announced. This would include the bride and groom and possibly others in the wedding party. Any other special instructions or information should be communicated to the band before the reception.
Can I have special songs played for our first dances?
Usually, when the bride/groom arrive the band will announce the couple. The couple then goes to the dance floor for their first dance, then father/bride, groom/mother, wedding party. Please be sure to let us know if you will choose songs from our song list or bring in your iPhone (if they are not on our list) with a playlist of the special songs. Before the event please email us with the itinerary for the reception with these songs included as well as how you would like to be announced, example "Mr. and Mrs. John Doe".
What music is played during the break?
You are welcomed to bring a playlist on your iPhone you have special songs that you would like to hear during the band's break(s).
Do I want the traditional "Throwing of the Bouquet" during my reception? Are there other options?
Some brides will opt for a "Bouquet Dance" instead of throwing the bouquet to single women. The Bouquet Dance invites all married couples to the dance floor. The music begins and the band announces throughout the song for couples to leave the dance floor according to how long they have been married. The last dancing couple, married the longest, receives the bridal bouquet.
Does the band allow guests performers?
The band will allow a guest or family member to make announcements, toasts, or perform with the band as long as it is in a professional and tasteful manner.
What time does the band arrive to set up equipment and instruments?
Under normal circumstances, the band and/or sound company will arrive 2 hours before the reception.
Will the band perform outdoors?
Within the band's contract for the performance, details are included regarding necessities for an outdoor performance such as outdoor tent size, power needed, etc.
Will the band play longer than the original contracted time?
In most cases, for an additional fee, the band can perform longer unless the band or sound company is committed to another job after your reception.
Where should the band be positioned at the reception?
The band should be placed where the majority of guests will be mingling. Possibly by the bar if one will be present. The band should not be placed in a separate room from the main area if at all possible.
When should we have the "Honeymoon Dances"?
If you will be having these dances as part of your reception, the best time for this would be after the band's first break. The mid-part of the reception is the time that most guests are dancing and paying attention to wedding activities.
